“Azami” is a simple, traditional triangular shawl worked from the top down. It starts at the top center, and the garter edges and lace pattern are worked at the same time as increases at both edges and the center. The final garter border adds modernity to the loveliness of the pattern stitch.
I called this shawl “Azami”, thistle in Japanese, because the pattern reminds me of this flower. Thistle motifs also emerge along the center of the shawl by varying increase techniques.
